Ok guys..Guess I WILL post about all these various scandals doin the rounds..time to tax my brain a little bit :D

This post axully started out as a comment on Di's page so please bear with me if the startting sounds a little bit abrupt..

Firstly, a question no one else seems to have considered (If you have, my apologies)

How come no one has raised the point that the DPS scandal is actually child porn and illegal as hell..Is not just a moral issue, is also a bloody legal issue..They are 16 for chrissakes ..Whether it was consensual or not and whether she knew abt the recording or not becomes immaterial...is it just me who realises the legal implications??

I got a reply as follows: Legal implications? X-Cy! You realise what a long-drawn court case would do to the kids involved? It would ruin them inside & out!!

My response:
My dear girl..Who is talkin abt the kids..It is to protect them that I talk abt the legality of the issue...All I meant to say was that anyone distributing these clips is techically guilty of child porn and shud be prosecuted..That wud hopefully, reduce the distribution (I am not quite naive or hopeful enough to think that stoppin it possible) and give the kids some peace..The courts need have nothin to do with the kids themselves for the issue, I do not think, is axully the kids anymore themselves but what was done with the clip, immaterial of who made it or was in it..

Someone else's point of view:
The only problem I have with this sex clip issue is with DPS and IITKgp. I goto a school to get an education (so i was told). That is, for me, the only basis of my relationship with them. Why then should the school be bothered about what I do in my personal life? Do these actions mean that my school has a complete right to information on all activities I indulge in with my girlfriend?Also, do these actions mean that pimps and prostitutes aren't allowed to apply for our premier institutions? If so, shouldn't it be clearly mentioned in the admission brochure? My source of income - for genuine reasons or to satisfy my profligate ways - should be of no concern to the institute as long as I am satisfying their basic purpose - studying well.My fundamentals themselves may be misplaced but the worst two things about this episode for me were - 1. expelling the students from their respective instis2. overwhelming coverage given to the issue by the media spotlighting - the kids, the technology and the 'sexquotient'boooo

And now, MY point of view..I spent a bit of time before i posted this..And have reread it as well..My opinion on the incidents seems to be different from most people..I dont know why..And do not know who is correct..But then, opinion is never about right or wrong, about truth or lies, about fact or fiction..It is a matter of perception..And in that, we are all different..

Simply put, your private life is only private till it becomes public..A bit of an oxymoron but if you consider it, makes sense..the clip was out in public..most people in school had seen it..

And also, is not a case of pimps and prostitutes as you put it...The guy distributed the clip without the girl knowin...It becomes more a case of exploitation than nething else...And even with pimps and prostitutes...If you do it in private, it is your bizness...But if you distribute the videos in school, it BECOMES the school's business...similar principle..

As to the overwhelming media coverage, it is hardly surprising...One cud argue that the media coverage makes us sensationalists but conversely, it is quite often the case that the media will cover these stories because they KNOW that the public are interested in such sensationalist hyped issues....If we werent, they wouldnt..simple as that...

News is no longer about news, it is about viewership..No news channel is either foolish enough or rich enough to concentrate on the good old ethics of news and morals and all that...Viewers count and viewers want sex...I dont think you can blame the news companies..At least, I dont believe they should be blamed..And belief, like opinion, is of course a matter of individual perception..They need viewership else a lot of people are going be out of jobs...

As for slimes of india..I agree they are..but why do they still sell so many copies? Tells you something about the public doesnt it? It is easy to blame these big companies but for crying out loud, most of you read the damn papers..why do you if they so terrible? And forget even the papers, most of you probably read magazines like filmstar and stardust and all those glam mags with celebrity lives..How can people then cry foul when newspapers or news channels do the same? I know about 4 people who GENUINELY buy papers or magazines for news alone..We all want to read about sensational issues..

And even for the iit incident..I think it was on uni premises..Can hardly blame the uni for takin the hardline..Hell, if you were an employer and you found out an employee was sellin porn out of work,u would be annoyed..Legally u may not be able to do anything...but if he was doing it AT WORK, you would have fired him..After all, nowadays, ppl are being fired for even accessing it on work computers let alone selling it..I dont see how bashing the policies will help..You live by the sword, u die by it...

And D: Dont quite see why you say he did a wrong thing by selling porn?? Morally wrong? Perhaps...But almost everyone watches it..And on one side there is an argument that we should be enlightened about sex and stop making such issue out of it...But we are not allowed to view/distribute porn?? Cant have it both ways..Either we decide we want to be a hyprocritical conservative society and condemn such behavior and yet indulge in it all privately..OR live with it and grow up a bit...In THIS case, i do thing his crime was NOT doing wotever he was, but simply doing it on university premises where he should'nt have..To put it simply, wrong place, wrong time, wrong person...Maybe i am alone in this view (and I would not be surprised) but like I said, can't have it both ways..

When the Shiv Sena went on its "moral" policing everyone was up in arms against it..but what the public is doing now is NO different..So who are we to condemn the guy?? And i DO think the two issues are VERY different..What happened in the DPS incident should notbe confused with the IIT incident..

Well, I think my position is pretty clear..But of course, leave your comments and will do my best to reply to them..And PLEASE, DO NOT be offensive..Either to me or to anyone else whose comments may not be similar to your point of view..We all have our opinions..Respect each other's and they will respect yours..

Make up your minds..And live with your choices..PEACE.
